Commercial diving
We deliver comprehensive commercial diving, subsea engineering, and marine support services for nearshore, coastal & inland assets. As a fully registered HSE Diving Contractor and Full Member of the Association of Diving Contractors (ADC), we operate to the highest UK safety standards using certified personnel, surface-supplied air systems, and real-time surface-monitored video.
Close Visual (CVI) and General Visual (GVI) inspections supported by live HD surface monitoring and time-stamped video recording. Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) gauging, Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), and Cathodic Protection (CP) surveys. Pier scour assessments, caisson inspections, intake and outfall pipe inspections, dock wall integrity checks, and UWILD class surveys for commercial vessels.
Underwater concrete formwork, tremie pours, grout bag placement, and structural underpinning. Scour protection, subsea drilling, cofferdam installation, and pile positioning. Oxy-arc cutting, specialised wet welding, pneumatic breaking, and mechanical demolition for heavy modification or removal.
High-pressure hydro-jetting, airlift/dredging, and pipe plugging or blanking. Subsea valve servicing, seal and structural bolt replacement, and sacrificial anode retrofits. Vessel maintenance including emergency propeller entanglement clearing and underwater coating applications.
A 24/7 emergency call-out team, deployed rapidly for structural failures, critical pipe blockages, vessel entanglements, and marine salvage operations — with full rigging and heavy-lift support for asset recovery.
Quayside & civil marine repairs
Marine civil engineering and structural repair services for ports, harbours, jetties, and industrial berths — structural restoration, fender replacements, and concrete rehabilitation along the splash zone, intertidal areas, and deck levels to extend asset lifespan and keep berths operational.
Repair of spalling, cracked, and degraded quay wall concrete caps, cope beams, and deck edges damaged by marine salt exposure, freeze-thaw cycles, or heavy vessel impacts.
Reinforcement and restoration of corroded or structurally compromised steel H-piles and sheet pile retaining walls across tidal and splash zones.
Supply, crafting, and fitting of heavy-duty timber fendering systems designed to absorb vessel kinetic energy and protect primary quay structures, specialising in dense marine hardwoods including Greenheart and Ekki (Lophira alata).
Installation, realignment, and servicing of commercial rubber fendering configurations, including continuous 300mm section D-fenders across extensive berth lengths (300m+ sections), as well as arch, cone, and cylindrical profiles.
Structural & steel fabrication
High-precision structural steel fabrication and welding for harsh marine, civil, and industrial environments — from fully equipped workshops with mobile site deployment, building robust steelwork engineered to resist severe coastal corrosion and heavy dynamic loads.
Heavy-duty steel infrastructure including tubular piles, waling beams, pile caps, mooring bollard plates, walkway gantries, and access ladders tailored for port facilities and coastal developments.
Bespoke steel backing plates, mounting brackets, transition pieces, wear plates, spud poles, and tie-back assemblies designed to integrate directly with concrete, timber, or sheet-pile quay structures.
Field modifications, structural erection, and rapid repairs using MIG/MAG and MMA welding techniques, backed by crane and barge logistics and supported by mobile site teams.
Rigorous surface protection for extreme salinity, including Sa 2.5 grit blasting, hot-dip galvanizing, and multi-coat C5-M marine epoxy paint systems built for long-term splash zone protection.
Buoy & navigation aid maintenance
Full-lifecycle maintenance, inspection, and deployment services for navigational aids, swim lane markers, and commercial marine buoys — backed by over 20 years of continuous service managing seasonal buoyage systems for local authorities and harbour managers.
Complete submerged and topside component maintenance — inspecting, servicing, and replacing heavy ground tackle including sinker weight blocks, marine swivel shackles, and high-tensile mooring chains, alongside servicing top-side navigation lanterns, solar battery systems, and radar reflectors.
Complete seasonal management programmes for coastal local authorities, ports, and beach operations. Having placed, recovered, and stored out-of-season swim and boat lane marker buoys for Brighton and Hove for over 15 years, we offer a turn-key solution covering autumn recovery, secure winter shore-storage, full blast-cleaning and re-painting, and precise spring re-deployment.
Using specialised work vessels like the M.V. Valkyrie with onboard crane and A-frame handling capabilities, we recover damaged, adrift, or degraded buoys directly from marine sites — handling large-scale marker buoys up to 4–5 metres in height and diameter, with unit weights reaching up to 2 tonnes.

Purpose-built dive support vessel
The flagship workboat of the Valkyrie Diving fleet. A 13.35m steel catamaran with an expansive 5.80m beam, providing an exceptionally stable, spacious, and adaptable working deck for marine civil engineering, subsea inspections, and dive support operations.
An inbuilt 2-man diving spread with 2×150m surface-supplied umbilicals, an HP air bank (12×50-litre 200bar bottles), and an LP Bauer 320e compressor. The wheelhouse houses an integrated dive communications and video logging suite with a 32" monitor for real-time client viewing, plus dual satellite navigation, radar, chartplotter, sonar, autopilot, depth sounder, AIS, and VHF radio.
Complete Category C medical packs, a 6-man Plastimar (RORC) and 8-man Beaufort liferaft, 14 light-equipped lifejackets, grab bags with thermal protection, rocket and hand flares, multiple MOB lifebuoys, and a full suite of CO2, foam, and dry powder fire suppression systems.
Sussex Sea Pods
A Sussex Sea Pod is a purpose-designed artificial reef structure, carefully shaped to mimic natural forms found in the marine environment. Built to sit securely on the local seabed, each pod creates shelter, surface area, and protection — the essential ingredients for marine life to return and thrive. Think of it as a foundation stone for rebuilding an ecosystem.
Born from a lifetime spent on and under these waters, Sussex Sea Pods is a pioneering restoration project led by commercial diver Alan Minter. Inspired by nature and shaped by experience, these purpose-built reef structures are designed to bring life back to the seabed: creating shelter, encouraging biodiversity, and helping marine ecosystems recover.
The first prototype, affectionately named The Minter Hotel, was placed on the seabed as a test. Within days, it was alive. Now, the mission is clear: scale this solution, restore our coastal waters, and build something that will last for generations.
